  1. Eid Al-Adha is one of the most important religious celebrations in the Moroccans’ life. In this celebration, all family members usually gather in the grand parents’ house. Before this day there are many preparation such as: buying a sheep, sharping all the knives at home, and buying a brand new grill. This celebration has a lot of traditions especially in Morocco, it is totally different from all the other Arabic countries but do share some rituals like: praying, slaughter, and eating the sheep’s meat. Here in Morocco we also wear some traditional clothes like: jellaba for men and some kinds of caftans for women. After the slaughter, the family members start grilling some pieces of the sheep’s body such as: the heart, the liver, and the lungs. I always don’t like that morning because it is full of bloody scenes and hate the taste of the body parts listed above. Also, in Eid Al-Adha we always have fun especially when I meet my cousins. We get along with each other and laugh at every single detail that had happened during the whole day. To sum up, the best traditions and rituals in Eid Al-Adha are the Moroccan ones because they are full of beautiful things and are special than the ones in any other country.

  2. Eid al adha is a very special holiday for Muslims country including morocco. The morning of that day I wore a Djellaba and a Blgha, and then my father and I went to the Msllah to prier the Salat el Eid. That day every Moroccan family slaughters a sheep and that is the moment that I don't likethe most. But after came my favorite part when we have some good Cooks like Boulfaf and Tangina. For me what I enjoyed most during this holyday is the family reunion every member visits the others. I have enjoyed meeting all people that I haven't seen for a very long time.

  4. Eid El Adha is one of the most important religious days in the Islamic world. The night before El Eid, My whole family meet in my grandmother's house. In the morning of this special day, men go to pray in the MSSALA which is a special place for Eid's prayer while women wear new clothes especially djellabas. After the prayer, everyone starts preparing to sacrifice the sheep. Once the sheep is slaughtered and prepared, I help my mother to make food especially liver barbecue and after the food is ready, the whole family join in to eat, the food tastes great and the family's meeting is great as well. I remember one time, before sacrificing the sheep on the roof of the building, the sheep was so scared that it actually jumped from the roof, luckily he fell on a tree and didn't die, it was the first time that i've ever seen something like that, it was a little scary. To sum up, the Eid is a day where everyone is happy and all families meet, it has a great ambiance and everyone loves that day.

It consists of sacrifing a sheep to god every year in the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah.
Every familly buys a sheep in the previous days and all equipments they will need.
In the morning, all familly members goes to a special place called ''MSALLA'' where we do the eid's priyer. After having the breakfast everyone wear very beautiful traditionnal clothes than the rituals starts.
My father and my grandfather slaughter the sheeps, a big part of the meat is given to poor people and the other part is used by my mother and my grandmother to prepare very delicious traditional dishes like tanjia, barbecue, tajines, couscous and many other specialities.
It is important during the aid to visit or call all poeple that we know like familly and friends.
Here is something that happened in 2013's eid that I'll never forget, 3 tourists from australia came to morocco during their holidays but they arrived in this day. they were totoally shocked because the saw a lot of blood and a lot of people carring knifes or around a fire but they have never heard befor about this muslim tradition; so they returned immediatly to their original country.
Eid al adha is an opportunity to see all the familly and a source of happiness.

  7. In our Islamic religion, we have two kinds of AID.The first one is aid El Fitr which is the day after Ramadan. The second one is aid All Adha and he is the 10th of the last month of the lunar calendar. Aid Al Adha is my favorite because we sacrifice a sheep for god. This day is very important and special for all the Muslims around the world, and every one of them celebrate it in his own way. Moroccans for instance, They wake up early in the morning and go to the mosque wearing traditional clothes. After the prayer, the congratulate each other for El Aid then they bring the sheep to slay it. In my family, my grandfather who slay the sheep since he is the oldest. After the sacrifice of the sheep, all the family get united for the lunch at my grandparents house. In the evening, we start visiting other relatives to congratulate the aid and to wish them a happy life.

  8. Eid el Adha is one of the biggest and busiest day of the Moroccan’s year. It’s the most emblematic with the sheep’s sacrifice. In my family (close family) we don’t participate in the tradition, we always travel those days. We always go to see our bigger family, cousins, uncles, aunts and spend half the day with them having fun. And in our family we have this tradition ( I don’t know if it is in all the country ), all the kids the day of l’Eid they go to each of the adults who gives to each of the kids at least 50dhs, and when you’re 6 to 11yo it’s the best day ever where you can buy candy. The day before el Eid my mother takes the best clothes for me and my sister and starts preparing them for the day after so we are in our best suits. Once the sacrifice time arrives, the men kill the sheep and some hours after we get to eat the Boulfaf which is a really tasty meat that a lot of people like. After or before eating, the kids and one or two adults go out with a big piece of prepared meat and gives to the poor, we can even go an hour or two walking in the street trying to give to as many poor as possible. While getting out we also take the head of the sheep with us and give to the first group of kids in the street who are there to grill it and we come back some hours later with a 100dhs to give them and we take the head back. To sum up, the day of Eid el Adha is one of the busiest day for the Moroccans, but in the best atmosphere they can get with family.

  9. “Aid el addha is an Islamic celebration where Muslims, that have the possibility to, slay a sheep in the name of God”. This is a definition that everyone can find on internet but that doesn’t describe what it really presents for us as Muslims. So let me tell you more about it. For me, talking about aid al addha as just one day is a little bit unfair and wrong cause its preparation begins a week ago, when men go to the souk to choose their sheep and haggle with the sellers, when women buy specific tools, spices and ingredients for Aid, and also, when the streets are fulfill with the slight smell and sound of the sheep. The morning of aid al addha, we wear our traditional clothes; caftan for girls and djellaba for men, then we go to the mosque to pray to God and meet our friends and neighbors. After that, we all go to my grandmother house where my father and uncles slaughter the sheeps and give a big part of it to women so that they can prepare the lunch, and trust me, very delicious and tasty meals are made. The other part of meat is given (with a big discretion) to people in need and that couldn’t afford a sheep. The evening, adults gather around a cup of tea trying to catch up while kids play in the street with their cousins. Usually a lot of laughter takes place in these moments. Personally, I really enjoy this aid because it is a great opportunity to feel closer to God, strengthen family ties and help the poor. To sum up, aid al addha is more than a religious celebration but is a part of the Moroccan culture and tradition.

  10. “Eid Al Adha” is an important and happy celebration for all Muslims all around the world. My parents and I usually go to my grandparent’s house where everyone meets. Every family brings its own sheep, and gets ready for the event. The women and children wait for the men to go do the special pray of the Eid in the mosque. When the men get back they prepare the sheep to slip their throat. Sometimes there are some funny things that happen, like when the sheep run away and it is difficult to catch it. We start all laughing in tears because everyone starts running and screaming, some also fall down. After that, it is the roll of the women to clean the mess and start preparing the lunch. It is always salads, hash meat and skewers that are served. After lunch we receive guests, we play games like hide and seek and we watch movies then everyone go home. It is essential for all Muslims to celebrate” Eid Al Adha” because it is a part of the religion and it is also full of fun and good memories.

  12. Eid al Adha Is one of the most special and important events in the Muslim Community . Eid al adha or it can also be called "the biggest eid" is celebrated once in every arabic year on 10th Dhu Al-Hijjah, and it lasts for 3 days . In this special day , parents buy new clothes for their children and give them a sum of money which is called "Aaydia" , so they can add some happiness to their children's Hearts. This day is also an occasion for the families to gather and spend more time together . And for the siblings who live faraway or abroad , they usually call to wish everybody a happy eid. Generally , the phone never stops ringing during the eid. In the eid's morning , people go to the "Msalla" where they do their eid prayers. Right after that , they pass by their friends' and neighbors' houses and wish them a happy eid. When they're done congratulating others, they go back to their families and have a late breakfast . Usually , people wait for the king to sacrifice his sheeps so they can start doing the same thing . It's not necessary to sacrifice a sheep , it can also be a cow , a buffalo , a goat and maybe a camel , it depends on the financial situations of the family. In Morocco , people have their own special ways and traditions to celebrate this day , that's what makes it different from other Muslim or Arab countries . Personally , i'm not a big fan of eids , I used to be excited for it when i was a child , but now it's just a normal day like everyday. To Conclude, eid al Adha is a very special day for Muslims , and everyone has to celebrate it whether if they want it or not.

  13. Eid Al-Adha is one of the most waited events in the Muslim year. Also called the Great Eid, this festivity is celebrated on the last Islamic month and it commemorates Ibrahim submission to Allah, which he proved when he accepted sacrificing his only child, Ismael. Fortunately, Allah replaced Ismail with a sheep so we don’t have to perform a massacre of innocent child every year. For this special occasion a specific ritual is followed. Firstly, all the family members woke up early, although each one accomplishes a different task. Women prepare the breakfast, which normally include traditional sweets and foods of each country, while men go the mosque to pray. After eating breakfast, men accomplish the sheep’s sacrifice and dismemberment, to which I have never attended. Women then clean the sheep’s organs, braid the intestines and sweep certain parts with a brush in order to prepare the lunch. In Tangier, the first day of Eid we cook the liver and we make ktibat, which is similar to barbeque, for lunch. For dinner we prepare the entrails: aalawa, fota and bof are the main dishes. The second day of Eid we prepare couscous with the head of the sheep, which has to be burned the previous day in the neighborhood with the other neighbors’ sheep heads. The remaining of the sheep body is often eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner during the next days, although some people give some meat to the ones who couldn’t afford a sheep. As we all know, the more people, the better the food tastes, so the Eid is also an occasion to organize family gatherings. Men wear the traditional kandora, women wear beautiful patterned djelabas and kids wear their brand new outfits. In addition, kids love the Great Eid because they are given pocket money. To sum up, Eid Al-Adha is a festivity that allows us to spend quality time with our families and the ones we love.

We usually eat a lot of traditional Moroccan food like “Boulfaf” and “Katban”. Traditional clothes like “Jabador” and “Djellaba” are very common in the streets at Eid times. Muslims pray in Mosque before slaying the sheep. It is also an occasion to talk about sheep in good vibes. This year, a very funny thing happened to my cousin and I. Actually, we had to move the sheep to the car, and he escaped from us. We pursued it all over the neighborhood. After a long run, we finally caught it. 17. I adore the holiday of Eid El Adha, because it is synonymic of family meeting. Usually I get dressed as traditional attire: a colorful jellaba or a kaftan , because I adore that. I help my mom to prepare the breakfast, with the rice pudding and the doughnuts as well as the other sweets. Then takes place the sacrifice of the sheep, which break my heart. I eat almost nothing of the sheep, I find his meat too strong . What I adore on the other hand, it is to spend time with all the family: we play cards, we spend the night to laugh, we sit around dishes and that always pleases me to see my grandparents happy to see us gathering all together. In conclusion, Eid El Adha is a holiday which always puts me in a good mood.

In our family’s tradition the night before this special day, all the members gather in our grandmother’s house and each one brings some baked goods with. In the morning we all put our traditional clothes and go together to the mosque, make our prayer, and once we’re done we go back home. After that the men starts preparing knifes and all the kit they’ll need for the slaughter, while the women prepare the salads and the side meals. The older boys prepare the coal for the barbeque, as for us the girls each one has a task, I take pictures and videos, my other cousin looks after the little ones and so it goes on. As for me all the past Aids where much better than this one or any other coming ones, since back then my brother Ismail, uncle idriss , aunt Badia were still with us and it is hard to genuinely smile knowing they’ll never be with us again.

  26. Eid al adha is an important religious celebration. All families prepare themselves to celebrate it by buying a sheep or a cow according to their financial capacities. It is a very symbolic religion practic since it’s like a gift to God. Before the eid day, people get prepared in several ways : they buy knifes , barbecue and coal, little children get new dresses and clothes. In the Eid’s morning , man put djellabas and go to the mosque for Eid prayer, it’s a compulsory habit , and women stay at home to prepare a nice and traditional breakfast. After this , man prepare themselves to slaughter the animal, some of them prefere to do it by himself, and some prefere to call a butcher . If you were a foreigner, don’t freak out if anyone is going around with blood in his hand and clothes. After they finished, women usually start to prepare the animal offel. Most of morrocans like to have lunch with its liver wich is called in morroccan ‘ Boulfaf’ . In the afternoon , people usually likes to go around and have a family meeting , or they just have a rest since it’s a very long and harmful day. This is hwo I spend most of eids too, when I was a child my favorite part was buying el eid dress , it’s true that things have changed since then, however , I still feel the same joy and hapiness whenever eid comes.
